Dr. Diane Jackson Schnoor CEO, Dr. Diane's Adventures in Learning

Dr. Diane Jackson Schnoor helps educators build connections through multicultural picture books and STEM/STEAM experiences designed to engage learners and build opportunities for executive function, literacy, math, and science gains across the curriculum. She brings 25+ years of practical knowledge from her work in the classroom, as founder of an award-winning preschool, and as a museum educator. In addition to teaching at the University of Virginia and Shenandoah University, she consults on curriculum and professional development worldwide, including such partners as Steve Spangler Inc., Kesler Science, Project Act, and Sanguine Consulting. She hosts the Adventures in Learning podcast, and is in-demand as a speaker at such national and regional conferences as NCSTA, NCRC, MDAEYC, SECA, VAAEYC, Smart Start, NAEYC PLI, and Science in the Rockies.


Amari Shields CEO, Mentored Motivation

Amari Shields has been an educator in the Houston area for the last decade. She has taught every subject, but her classroom experience revolved around upper elementary and middle school science instruction. After earning her M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Literacy Studies, she began to have an interest in cross-curricular lessons and student motivation. She served as a Curriculum Instructional Specialist in Sheldon ISD, is currently teaching science at Cypress Fairbanks ISD, and enjoys helping teachers widen their impact.



In this three-part course, you will explore how to apply the strategies with specific topics of geared to early childhood and elementary classrooms. 

  • Part 1 uses the Cicada Convergence and Powerful Pollinators to explore computational thinking, dramatic play, construction, art, science, and more. 
  • Part 2 uses the Science of Color, Water Play, and Nature to consider how we can use our five senses for exploring the scientific process, observing and making discoveries through play, and more. 
  • Part 3 draws on a well-loved children's folk tale and its variants to explore such concepts as sink and float, the engineering and design process, oral storytelling, and building global connections. 


And everything is grounded in literacy and playful learning while using materials that are readily and cheaply accessible. We hope you'll join us for a joyful learning adventure.
